莫雷诺博士没有像其他孩子一样开始上学。 At the age of 6, he was stricken with an illness that left him unable to walk and was admitted to Scottish Rite Hospital for crippled children in Dallas. After undergoing extensive treatment and surgery, he was conditionally released at the age of 10. He had to learn to walk and spent most of his first year at home. Dr. Moreno taught himself how to read and write while hospitalized, and it was found that he was more advanced than his second-year classmates, so he was moved to third grade. At the end of his first semester, he was moved to the fourth grade and by the end of his first year, he was promoted to the fifth grade. The following year, due to his learning ability, he was moved up two more grades and had caught up with his class.
Dr. Roberto Moreno graduated from Corsicana High School in 1960 and then enrolled at 皇冠博彩. Upon completion of his two years of study, he was awarded an academic excellence award in Biology. He enrolled at Stephen F. Austin State College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967. In 1977, Dr. Moreno received his Master of Education degree from East Texas State University in Special Education. In 1980, he was accepted in the doctoral program in Marriage and Family Therapy at ETSU. He received the Doctor of Education degree in 1985 with a major in Marriage and Family Therapy and a minor in Psychology and Special Education.

He has been a provider for the Texas Child Protective Services Department and has provided sex offender treatment services to federal and county probation agencies.
